Welcome to my website for enthusiasts of Aeronca Aircraft. The website will contain a growing collection of information and links for pilots, owners, and restorers of these fine classic airplanes.
This
is my 1946 Aeronca 11AC Chief, N86176, purchased August 28, 1999
from Tom Miller of Vine Grove, Kentucky. It was completely
restored
by Tom in 1998 and was flown to Oshkosh '99 where it won the award for
best Aeronca Chief. Tom is an outstanding craftsman and I am fortuntate
that he was willing to part with his Chief. With an A-65 Continental
and no electrical system, this is a "low and slow" airplane, just perfect
for fun flying while I continue the restoration of my Stinson
108-3. The photo above was taken at Frederick Municipal Airport, Frederick,
MD., just outside the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) building.
I will be adding more information of interest to Aeronca enthusiasts as I develop this website. In the meantime, I'd enjoy hearing from anyone who shares an interest in Aeronca (or Stinson) aircraft. I especially welcome comments about corrections that are needed, whether they be in content or style. E-mail me at sstarkey@erols.com.HELP!! I'm (still) looking for an original main tank fuel cap for my Chief. This cap has the marking "15 GAL" stamped on the face. Please contact me if you have one to sell or know of a source. Thanks! Also, my friend Ed Maloney is looking for an inboard rim from a Goodyear wheel assembly #511 413 1. If you have one to sell, contact Ed at: emaloney@parrett.net
